What You’ll Do
As a Tree Inspector, you’ll:
  • Conduct routine and responsive tree inspections, preparing detailed survey reports and data.
  • Use IT systems to record, store, and retrieve survey information efficiently.
  • Perform tree risk assessments, identifying work plans and priorities to ensure safety and health.
  • Assist in preparing tender documentation for external services, adhering to procurement rules.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Investigate complaints, respond to public enquiries, and provide professional correspondence.
  • Plan and prepare tree planting and renewal schemes to enhance Cardiff’s green spaces.
  • Contribute to the development of arboricultural policies, strategies, guidelines, and training.
  • Provide expert advice on tree preservation orders, planning applications, and development schemes.
  • Uphold Cardiff Council’s commitment to equality, health and safety, and corporate responsibilities.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking candidates who are:
  • Qualified: Hold a professional tree inspection qualification (essential).
  • Experienced: Have proven experience as a professional tree inspector.
  • Mobile: Possess a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential).
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using IT systems for data management and reporting.
  • Proactive: Able to prioritize workloads, assess risks, and plan strategically.
  • Communicative: Skilled in responding to enquiries and providing professional advice.
