Pay rate:  £44.50  per hour

We have an opportunity for experienced and passionate Social Work Team Manager to lead an Assessment & Intervention Team within the Childrens Service for a  local Authority in London. Our clients vision for the service is that children and young people are safe, can overcome difficulties and can form secure relationships through their childhood and into their adulthood. The successful candidate must be willing to attend the office 3 days a week. Candidate must have experience of managing an Assessment and Intervention Team.
 
As a Social Work Team Manager you will be responsible for managing a team with complex cases of children in need of help and protection or looked after children and care-leavers, whilst maintaining the focus on safeguarding.  The successful candidate will manage 6 social workers, including 1 ASYE. Your team will work directly with the child or young person and their family or carer to build empathic, purposeful relationships that facilitate meaningful and sustainable change as well as stability in placement and permanency for children. As part of this role your team will be part of the Duty system, assessing needs and risk and safety. You will promote practice standards to ensure robust assessments and social work interventions to deliver better outcomes for children. You will confidently model motivational trauma informed practice. You will be available to your team in sharing your experience and support Social Workers in alignment with Islington’s Practice model through coaching, consultation and co-working. You will lead on developing areas of practice. You will share and exercise the organisational practice ethos which places Motivational Practice and trauma-informed practice at the heart of working with families.  You will be ambitious for every child to reach their potential in all aspects of their development including education, health and emotional wellbeing.

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience you’ll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills you’ll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.

Perfect candidate will be:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.
  • Experience working within, Court, Children in Need and Child Protection.
  • Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans.
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service.
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis.
  • 2 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Monitor and drive performance in the team to ensure staff meet service expectations and targets
  • Offering supervision and appraisals to social workers
  • Promote partnership and participation with children and their families and partner agencies
Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.
  • Manage an agreed case load.
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.
  • Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and empowerment.
This role is ideally located for those travelling from Hammersmith, Chiswick, Wembley, City of London, Wimbledon, Fulham, Lambeth, London, Twickenham, High Wycombe, Slough, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Guildford, Croydon, Bromley, Dartford, Romford, Watford, Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Havering, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Ilford, Chelmsford, Brixton, Barking, Southwark, Mitcham, Enfield and Woolwich.
