Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Engineer specializing in Construction Machinery to join our team. This position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction machinery on-site. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for solving complex mechanical and electrical issues, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of construction machinery (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, cranes, etc.).
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on-site using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients regarding maintenance needs, repair timelines, and equipment operation. Provide guidance and training to operators as needed.
  • Field Inspections: Conduct equipment inspections to ensure they meet safety and operational standards. Identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all service activities, repairs, and parts used. Provide detailed service reports and recommendations for future maintenance.
  • Parts Management: Assist in identifying and ordering replacement parts, ensuring that parts are available for timely repairs.
  • Safety: Follow safety protocols and procedures while working on-site, ensuring both personal and team safety during service operations.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-call support for emergency breakdowns and urgent repairs outside of regular working hours.
  • Calibration & Upgrades: Calibrate equipment, update software, and perform necessary upgrades to keep machinery compliant with the latest industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the in-house engineering and technical teams to provide feedback and contribute to product improvement.
Qualifications
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Trade certification in heavy equipment or machinery repair is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in servicing and repairing construction machinery or heavy equipment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
    • Experience with diagnostic tools and software for construction machinery.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Familiarity with welding and fabrication techniques is an advantage.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Adaptable and capable of working in challenging environments and under pressure.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment parts (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently and work extended hours when needed.
Additional Requirements
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required. CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to client sites across [Region/Country].
  • Certifications: Certifications in specific machinery brands (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere) are highly desirable.
  • Safety Training: Completion of OSHA or similar safety training preferred.
