Future cricket stars at a West Midlands club have been given a £2,500 boost by a local recruitment specialist.
(l-r) Tanworth and Camp Hill CC Treasurer Mike Shaw, Club Assistant Junior Head Coach Sam Jones and Steve West, CEO of Pertemps
Pertemps Network Group, based in Meriden, near Coventry, has donated the cash to help Tanworth and Camp Hill Cricket Club improve the clubhouse at its Alderhanger Lane ground to cope with an influx of young hopefuls as young as five.
And it is hoped the work will further raise interest in grassroots cricket in the area, which has seen a significant rise in numbers at the club in recent months.
Sam Jones, Assistant Junior Head Coach at the club, said: “The money is going towards a new patio area and renovating the bar and kitchen area of the clubhouse.
“Because of the high number of young cricketers we have now, we have simply outgrown the existing clubhouse space.
“We are really grateful for Pertemps for the money to help our club continue to move forwards.”
More than 70 five to eight-year-olds now join the Friday night All Stars sessions at Tanworth and Camp Hill Cricket Club. In addition, around 40 attend the dynamos sessions, aimed at eight to 11-year-olds, on Thursdays, with another 50 juniors taking cricket sessions on the same evening.
