JOB DESCRIPTION

A Vehicle Parts Adviser, also known as a Parts Advisor or Parts Specialist, is a professional who works in the automotive industry. They assist customers, technicians, and internal staff with identifying and acquiring the right automotive parts and accessories for vehicle repairs or upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic requirements for entry but some employers may ask for GCSEs and/or some previous relevant work experience. Apprenticeships may be available in some areas. Vehicle salespersons generally require a full, clean driving licence.

TASKS

  • Assist customers in identifying and selecting the right parts and accessories for their vehicles, considering specifications and compatibility..
  • Receive and process customer orders for vehicle parts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery..
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records of available parts, tracking stock levels, and replenishing supplies as needed..
  • Stay informed about the latest vehicle models, parts, and accessories, and provide technical assistance to customers and technicians..
  • Provide customers with accurate quotations for parts and accessories, including pricing and availability..
  • Communicate with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure the availability of required parts and timely deliveries..
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and warranty-related issues in a professional and customer-friendly manner..
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling or upselling additional parts, accessories, or related services..
  • Maintain detailed records of customer transactions, orders, and interactions for reference and reporting..
  • Collaborate with service technicians, mechanics, and other internal staff to ensure efficient parts procurement and distribution..
